What is music?

Last weeks, I have been dealing with a situation that made me think about why I do what I do and if it’s worth it… Actually, it was one of those said points in the life of an artist, especially because it was triggered by an action of third person. However, it brought me (after more than 10 years!!!) to a definition what actually music means to me.

As you may know, I grown up in a family with a strong musical background, so the music as such has been around me all my life. Hence, I never had to ask myself, what it meant to me. Music was there when I started to hear, it was there when I started to understand. It was also there when I started to learn how to play it myself and in the end it was music that gave me space when I wanted to express myself.
In the beginning, there were not few funny tries to interpret another tracks as I would have written them if they were mine. Unconsciously, that way I have learned how to make music. Later, there came my own tracks. All that came somehow unforced and naturally out of me. Just like that.
I knew all that time that music was my medium to communicate. I always knew, how that music should sound. But what is it that make music so special? Is it the rhythm? Is it the melody? Is it the sounds I use? Yes! But it’s more!!!

To make music is to mix melody, rythm, sound and emotion with an aim to create something bigger than just a sum of its parts. It gives me space to tell a story, to transmit energy and emotions. The music I make is a projection. What would music be without a soul of its creator?

That’s why I do what I do. My music is like a mirror. Whenever I listen to it, it gives me satisfaction for being here.
And that’s why I will continue doing it! No matter what crosses my path…
